Workpackages
PONDSCAPE comprises 7 work packages, the first six of which correspond to the operational objectives. The 7th WP ensures validation and dissemination of results and will translate them into policy and recommendations to stakeholders, thus replying to the strategic objectives of PONDSCAPE. Each of the work packages has its own approach and methodology. Nevertheless, they are strongly interlinked and together form a coherent package that will provide solid contributions to consistent and efficient policy with respect to pond creation, conservation and sustainable management.
All five partners (and their subcontractors) deal with aspects of several workpackages and this will ensure close collaboration and interaction. For example, for WP1, KULeuven will be Workpackage Leader and will organise base line activities in protocol drafting and sampling site selection, as well as take part in sampling itself (zooplankton). However, all other partners will also take part in this important workpackage: RBINSc will also sample and analyse macro-invertebrates, FUNDP will deal with part of the water chemistry and with fish, UGent will do bacterial analyses (together with LUX) and phytoplankton. An overview of the involvement of the different partners in the various workpackages is given in the table below. Note that all partners are involved in WP7, which ensures ongoing validation of results through contacts with stakeholders and which also summarises all scientific results in policy and management recommendations.
(WPL = workpackage Leader, X = involved in the activities of that workpackage).
